With the huge success of our Monday Pilates session which we started back in September, we have decided to add another Pilates session to the Active Forever timetable. We will be launching at Broadway Youth & Community Centre Thursday 6th January 2022!
Our Jo trained in Zumba Gold recently which is a lower impact version of the original Zumba programme. It caters for people who are older, less mobile or who may have disabilities. Can be done seated or standing. We will be starting this class every Friday from 7th January at St Gabrielle's church!
Our newest member of staff Jack will be specialising in our brand new programme "Mission 2 Mobility" - a class designed to concentrate on a small group of individuals who want to get stronger, improve their balance/mobility and reduce their risk of falling. We piloted this programme for 6 weeks and the results were incredible! We will also have two different levels to help target those with different needs from the session! We now run 5 separate 8 week programmes! Get in touch to find your nearest class
Check out our Active Forever members enjoying their Christmas party at St Gabrielle's Church. From singing with the choir, playing festive bingo and fun in the photobooth our lovely members had a great time!
Thanks to Together for Children we have been able to run 6 Christmas parties at 3 different venues. Our first party we called Festive Fiesta and involved lot's of arts and crafts where children came to our photobooth and had their photo taken to put into a bauble to take home, we had a "Stick Man" book workshop provided by Seven Stories and we made Christmas cards. The highlight had to be our Christmas lunch followed by cake and custard...yum!
Our second Christmas party was our Jingle Bell Ball. Thanks to Candy Kids Entertainment for providing our children with 4 hours of fun. We had a disco, played games and even got a visit from the naughty elf himself! Our parties ran at Broadway Youth & Community Centre, Tansey Centre South Hylton and The Hetton Town Trust. Our families also got to take home a fantastic hamper made by the Active Families elves!
As Summer 2021 has come to an end we thought it would be a great idea to bring two of our Sunshine Project groups together to celebrate such a great few months. Our children from Sunshine camp and our older adults from Seat to the Street came together for a party in the park! We danced, laughed and ate ice cream...what more can you want?? Thank you again to Sunderland City Council for funding this project, we've had a blast!!
