As the government guidelines have been relaxed slightly we have been able to add outdoor classes to our timetable. Every Wednesday 10am we run our Buggy Bootcamp at Barnes Park, Sunderland. It's been going great so far and we only hope it will continue. It's been a great replacement to our Active Adult & Toddler group we would have usually ran on a Wednesday morning!
We delivered a 12 week programme created for teenagers. Our aim was to show them how fun exercise can be and how important it is to be part of their daily routine. We gave each participant a pair of our Kangoo Jump boots and each week they took part in a live and pre-recorded workout! As you can see form our video they thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
It's been great getting to meet up with some of our active family! We started up our Walk n Talk at Barnes park back in July to help our clients (old and new) get back into an exercise regime. We have since decided they are ready to take part in our fun seated exercises class, so now we have been bringing our music and seats and exercising in the park instead. Afterwards we sit and enjoy a cuppa from our new Active Families travel mugs! If you'd like to join us we start at 10.30am on Wednesdays, come along and join us! In September we are launching our new programme "Seat 2 Your Street". Thanks to the National Lottery Community Fund we are able to take seated exercise to the residents of Sunderland. We will be visiting different streets over the course of 3 month!

Every Tuesday, Thursday and Friday we have allocated two instructors to each street and invite the residents to join us for some group exercise outside of their homes! This includes seated dance with and without pom poms, resistance work with bands and some gentle stretching. Every who has took part has thoroughly enjoyed it! As the weather has started to get worse we are looking at other ways we can interact with our community!
"GOGA" stands for Get Out Get Active!
Each week we post a quick powerpoint on healthy eating into our private Facebook group. At the end of the week they get a little quiz to see what they've learnt about that topic. They've learnt the importance of eating a balanced diet, the truth behind sugar and the difference between good and bad FAT!
Families across Sunderland who have signed up to Active AIM will each week receive a food bag with a healthy food recipe. They then make the meal and give us their feedback in our private Facebook group. Each meal has gone down a storm and introduced the kids to foods they have never tried before!
Last but not least our families get a weekly online workout along with some activity cards. They each received a pedometer to count their steps too. The weekly exercises ranged from Kids Zumba, Glow fitness, Yoga and Fast Fitness workouts.
It's finally finished! Working together with More Than Grandparents we created a workout DVD suitable for all ages. We had great fun filming this and meeting all the families. If you'd like to know more about the charity More Than Grandparents please click the button below!
