Recently our community timetable grew as we expanded and combined with the amazing and highly respected fitness company KB FITNESS! All 5 instructors have been teaching for many years full time and we wanted to share that and their love of fitness with you all.
The company was started many years ago by Kelly Brougham (one of our Active Families DIrectors) when she first left University. She wanted to tackle obesity across Sunderland and Gateshead by setting up community classes and help everyone from teenagers to the elderly. She ran numerous charity events yearly and created a fantastic warm environment for all to exercise!

Here are our wonderful instructors who between them all can teach pretty much every fitness class under the sun. Numerous qualifications and licenses allowing them to work with all ages and abilities with years of experience! They are all excited to help expand Active Families NE community classes!
As of September 2021 all of our community classes will be back indoors with a jam packed timetable. Due to Covid-19 we had lot's of hurdles to overcome but we managed to get through and finally we feel like we are getting back to some sort of normality!

Zumba is a fitness program that combines Latin and international music with dance moves. Zumba routines incorporate interval training — alternating fast and slow rhythms — to help improve cardiovascular fitness.
A non-choreographed boxing session that covers all the basic punches and moves using pads and gloves! Core work is involved along with team building sets and you're guaranteed to leave smiling.
An old school step class put to funky new school tunes! An aerobic based workout that'll tone your lower body like nothing else. Simple routines that gradually progress that will leave you stepping like a pro!
Build your Confidence | Be Fierce | Find Your Inner BADASS
BADASS is a combat, cardio and conditioning class that will allow you to get in shape in style. Our very own Ashleigh is one of the choreographers for this program so watch out for her in class!
A toning class focusing on arms, abs, bum and legs using bodyweight, hand weights and resistance bands throughout. Great tunes to sing along to so you won't even know your working out.
